The Sun is ‘reporting’ Newcastle and Middlesbrough will sue Manchester United should they fail to play their strongest side against Hull. They could have a case; the rules state that a club should always play their strongest side. However, any foreign player is considered a member of the starting 11 due to British work permit rules, so unless United play 11 uncapped English 15 year olds I think they’ll be okay.
Andy and I were at the Bridge on Sunday to say goodbye to Guus Hidink. Chelsea won the game emphatically with a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers. The crowd chanted ‘Don’t go Guus’ and the atmosphere inside stadium was electric as Chelsea signed off with a great performance at the last Home game of the season. The atmosphere was only spoiled by the middle aged woman sitting next to me who didn't seem to know what was going on as she whined; “oh what did he do that for” & “what’s happening now?”
Despite her, the fans showed Guus know how much he will be missed and our appreciation for the player’s efforts this season (well most of them anyway).
Roll on the FA Cup final, which I will be watching at home. Thank you to the FA for deciding to give 40,000 tickets to Tom, Dick and Harry rather than the fans who have followed their teams all season. My reward for this is to watch best domestic cup competition in the world on ITV – which will probably mean we’ll be watching adverts for Tic Tac’s when all the goals are scored.
Oh and congratulations to Manchester United for another Premier League title
I went to the Arsenal vs. Chelsea FA Cup Semi Final at Wembley on Saturday! Before the game I was opposed to holding the Semi's at Wembley but after the game I must say I've changed my mind. The atmosphere was fantastic! It was the first time I've been to the new Wembley for a Football game; it’s the best stadium I have ever been in... It's vast but yet seems so enclosed and close to the pitch.
The game wasn't a classic, but it was entertaining! The interesting thing about the game was that Arsenal dominated for 20 minutes with Chelsea nowhere to be seen. However from the moment Chelsea conceded they went on to dominate the game, limiting Arsenal to only half chances. It was less end to end... more a game one quarter and 3 quarters.
